We're partnering with local community groups to inspire people to camp responsibly and come clean for earth! This event is free to attend and fun for all ages.

Program Schedule

Saturday, June 24

  • 12-8 p.m.: Kids Zone
    Kids activities, fishing demonstrations, environment agencies, food vendors and more!
  • 12-1 p.m.: Leave No Trace Activity • Outdoor Park Area
    Learn the seven principles of Leave No Trace. Plan ahead and prepare, travel/camp on durable surfaces, dispose of waste properly, leave what you find, minimize campfire impacts, respect wildlife and be considerate of other visitors.
  • 12-1 p.m.: Weather / Water Cycle / The Incredible Journey Activity • Nature Center Classroom
    Learn the difference to weather and climate. You will learn about the water cycle, how it impacts weather, and become a part of the water cycle during an interactive game.
  • 12-2 p.m.: Campfire Cooking 101 • Outdoor Park Area
    Learn how to cook over a campfire. You will learn about the best techniques for cooking while camping as well as how to work with native ingredients. Come hungry!
  • 2-2:30 / 2:30-3 p.m.: Goat Yoga • Outdoor Park Area
    Led by a certified instructor, featuring special a few special guests: goats!
  • 2-3 p.m.: GPS Tracking Activity • Nature Center Classroom / Outdoor Park Area
    Get to learn what Global Position Systems (GPS) are and how we use the technology in our everyday lives. Gain first-hand experience with using a GPS unit through a geocaching activity.
  • 3-4 p.m.: Hiking 101 - The 10 Essential of Hiking • Outdoor Park Area / Wetland Walk Trail
    Learn basic hiking skills via the ten essentials of hiking, then venture out on a guided hike of Wetland Walk Trail.
  • 4-5 p.m.: Traveling Turtles / Reptile Program • Nature Center 1st Floor / Outdoor Park Area
    Meet the turtles housed at the nature center. Come learn about the different species, what they eat, where they live naturally, and more. Learn what it takes to survive in the vast ocean as a sea turtle in an exciting game (be prepared to run)!
  • 4-5 p.m.: Build-A-Better-Fish Craft • Nature Center Classroom
    Participants will create their own fish based on different adaptations and habitat changes. Program is best suited for younger audience. Space is limited.
  • 5-6 p.m.: Historical Hike • Outdoor Park Area
    Learn about the history of Pemberton Park and the importance of preserving it while hiking around Pemberton Hall.
  • 6-7 p.m.: Guided Hike and Fishing Demo • Pondside Trail
    Learn about the water access points and aquatic life in Pemberton Park, then learn how to catch them!
  • 6-7 p.m.: Owl Pellet Dissection • Nature Center Classroom 
    Learn about the interesting adaptation Owls have by dissecting an Owl pellet and finding out what they've been eating.
  • 7-8 p.m.: Owl Prowl Hike • Woodland Trail Participate in a guided hike on the Woodland Trail and listen for native owls. An instructor will give tips on how to find these birds of prey by teaching various owl calls.
